Located just 14 miles south of Washington, DC, Springfield, Virginia was settled in the early 19th century with its name derived from a local spring. Originally farmland, transportation and commerce increased with the addition of the Orange and Alexandria Railroad in the mid-1800s. Then with the opening of a post office and several businesses in 1866, the area began to grow and develop.
In the early 20th century, Springfield experienced suburbanization with the construction of homes and retail centers like Springfield Mall, one of the first enclosed shopping centers on the East Coast. Today, Springfield is a thriving suburban community with a diverse population and wide range of businesses and amenities.
Residents enjoy affordable housing options, a strong economy with several large employers including the Fort Belvoir Army Base and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, one of the top school districts in the country, and a diverse community with a mix of cultures. Nearby recreational opportunities include Burke Lake Park, Lake Accotink Park, Hidden Pond Nature Center, Mount Vernon Estate and Top Golf, as well as museums and culture in Washington, DC.
123JUNK: Your Local Furniture Removal Company
Did you know that 123JUNK is a locally owned and operated company? Many people think we’re a national chain since they see our trucks everywhere. We were founded right here in Virginia in 2008 to help local families with their furniture removal and junk hauling needs. Read our story about how we started with one old truck.
Today, 123JUNK is well known as the leader in furniture removal in Springfield mainly because of our 1-2-3 philosophy of donate-recycle-dispose . We decided from the beginning that we wanted to be an eco-friendly company because it was not only important to us, it mattered to our clients. That means we want to keep as much out of area landfills as possible.
We do this by picking up household or office furniture people wish to donate, or dividing out items we think could be repurposed, and delivering them to our charity partners where they can help others in our community. We also look for items that can be recycled, like electronics, appliances or paper, and deliver those to the appropriate recycling center. By choosing 123JUNK, you do your part as well.
When you call us to inquire about furniture removal, you’ll speak with a live representative who can explain our process and provide you with convenient all-inclusive flat pricing. That way there won’t be any surprises. You will, however, be pleasantly surprised by our courteous and friendly truck teams who arrive at your home or office too. They love their job and it shows! They’ll quickly and safely remove your furniture and even sweep clean the area before they leave.

123JUNK doesn’t just load our trucks with your contents and haul them to the dump. We have a defined process for sorting and donating your items to a robust network of local municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations. We can even provide disposal reports for LEED certification, with a breakdown of where your items were distributed. Our objective is to keep your items out of the landfill.
You select the junk you want removed. We take it to one of many local donation partners. Your unused items make it to a good cause!
If it can’t be donated, we take care to ensure that as many items are recycled as possible. Our goal from the start: reduce landfill waste.
After items have been donated and recycled, the remaining items get hauled away as safely and carefully as possible. See what we take!
