When we opened 123JUNK in 2008, our mission was to help local homeowners throughout Northern Virginia, Washington DC and metro Maryland remove junk and old appliances. Our focus, however, was to do it in an environmentally-conscious way. From the start we established our 1-2-3 process of Donate-Recycle-Dispose. We donate what we can, recycle what we must, and only then deliver the remainder to the landfill.

When you are upgrading the appliances in your home or office and want to get rid of older, but still working versions, consider donating them. 123JUNK will pick up your appliances and deliver them to one of our local charity partners on your behalf.
If your appliances are no longer functional, you cannot dump them off at the landfill. Because they often contain hazardous materials like oil, PCBs, refrigerants, or lead, they must be taken to an appropriate recycling center. But don’t worry, we’ll do that for you as well.

The name of Sterling, Virginia is believed to have been inspired by the “Sterling Park” golf course, developed in the area in the 1960s. As the community around the golf course expanded, the name “Sterling” was adopted for the broader area.
As the town grew, and with construction of major transportation routes such as the Dulles Toll Road and the Washington Dulles International Airport, Sterling became an attractive location for both commuters and businesses. 123JUNK doesn’t just load our trucks with your contents and haul them to the dump. We have a defined process for sorting and donating your items to a robust network of local municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations. We can even provide disposal reports for LEED certification, with a breakdown of where your items were distributed. Our objective is to keep your items out of the landfill.
Donate
You select the junk you want removed. We take it to one of many local donation partners. Your unused items make it to a good cause!
Recycle
If it can’t be donated, we take care to ensure that as many items are recycled as possible. Our goal from the start: reduce landfill waste.
DisposeTM
After items have been donated and recycled, the remaining items get hauled away as safely and carefully as possible. See what we take!
