Proper Appliance Disposal is a Must!
Did you know that you can’t just throw away many old appliances? Often, they contain hazardous chemicals like oil, PCBs, mercury, lead and refrigerants. You cannot just take them to the dump and drop them off; they must be delivered to an appropriate recycling center.
Rather than spending your time researching where to take your old appliances, and lining up friends to help you haul them there, contact 123JUNK. Our crew members are trained in how to properly dispose of appliances that may contain toxins.
Appliance Donations Accepted
If you are switching out appliances, and the old ones are still in good working condition, consider donating them. 123JUNK works with several local charity partners who would be excited to accept your donation to help other families or to sell to raise money for their community programs. You’ll receive a receipt of your donation for your taxes.
Donation, recycling and disposal of old appliances is part of our 1-2-3 commitment to protecting our environment. We made it our purpose when we began our company in 2008 to keep as much out of area landfills as possible.
Our simple, flat-fee pricing and free estimates make it easy to use 123JUNK. And you’ll certainly enjoy the courteous service provided by all of the team members at 123JUNK—from your first call to client services to your pickup appointment crew.

Our 1-2-3 Process
123JUNK doesn’t just load our trucks with your contents and haul them to the dump. We have a defined process for sorting and donating your items to a robust network of local municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations. We can even provide disposal reports for LEED certification, with a breakdown of where your items were distributed. Our objective is to keep your items out of the landfill.

You select the junk you want removed. We take it to one of many local donation partners. Your unused items make it to a good cause!
If it can’t be donated, we take care to ensure that as many items are recycled as possible. Our goal from the start: reduce landfill waste.
After items have been donated and recycled, the remaining items get hauled away as safely and carefully as possible. See what we take!
Appliance Removal Service FAQs
Do I need to disconnect the appliance before you arrive?
Standard Electric Plugs (Washer/Dryer/Fridge): We can unplug and remove these for you.
Gas Appliances: These must be disconnected and capped by a licensed professional (plumber) before we arrive.
Hardwired Electric: Must be disconnected by an electrician.
Water Lines: We prefer these to be disconnected, but if the valves are accessible and working, our crew can typically handle simple disconnections.
Do you take appliances with Freon (like chest freezers or A/C units)?
Yes. We take environmental safety seriously. We ensure that units containing refrigerants (Freon) are taken to certified recycling facilities where the chemicals are drained safely, rather than being crushed in a landfill where they could leak into the ground.
Do you take water heaters?
Yes. We can remove old hot water heaters from basements.
Requirement: The tank must be fully drained of water and disconnected from the power/gas source before we arrive.
Do you service businesses in South Riding Market Square?
Yes. We help local restaurants and businesses with commercial appliance removal. We can haul away commercial-grade refrigerators, deep fryers, and ovens. We offer flexible scheduling to avoid disrupting your business hours.
Do you take built-in microwaves or wall ovens?
Yes, but they must be uninstalled first.
The Rule: If the appliance is screwed into the cabinetry or hardwired into the wall, it must be detached and pulled loose before we arrive. Once it is free-standing, we can carry it out.
