The Interesting History of Burke, VA
Burke, Virginia dates back to the 17th century when farming was the mainstay of life. The community was named after Silas Burke, a 19th-century farmer who owned a large land parcel.
Like many Northern Virginia areas, it experienced substantial growth in the mid-20th century, and transitioned into a suburban community serving the larger cities and Washington, DC with the completion of the Capital Beltway (I-495) and other road improvements. The excellent school system is another big draw for families, along with its range of amenities including parks, recreational facilities and community centers that offer a fulfilling lifestyle.
Burke’s homeowners play a vital role in shaping the community’s character and identity. It is known for its strong sense of belonging and active civic engagement, and residents take pride in maintaining their properties. They are also committed to environmental preservation of their green spaces.
Our 1-2-3 Process
123JUNK doesn’t just load our trucks with your contents and haul them to the dump. We have a defined process for sorting and donating your items to a robust network of local municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations. We can even provide disposal reports for LEED certification, with a breakdown of where your items were distributed. Our objective is to keep your items out of the landfill.

You select the junk you want removed. We take it to one of many local donation partners. Your unused items make it to a good cause!
If it can’t be donated, we take care to ensure that as many items are recycled as possible. Our goal from the start: reduce landfill waste.
After items have been donated and recycled, the remaining items get hauled away as safely and carefully as possible. See what we take!
Appliance Removal Service FAQs
My stove still works. Will you donate it?
Absolutely. If you are upgrading your kitchen and the old unit is clean and functional, we will try to donate it to our charity partners (like Habitat for Humanity). If we succeed, you get a tax-deductible receipt, and a local family gets a helping hand.
Do you take hot water heaters?
Yes. We can remove old water heaters from your utility room.
Requirement: The tank must be fully drained and disconnected from gas/electric/water lines before we arrive. Once it is disconnected, we handle the heavy hauling.
Do you remove commercial appliances for local businesses?
Yes. We serve the restaurants and businesses in Burke Town Plaza and Spartan Square. We can remove commercial refrigerators, fryers, and ovens. We offer flexible scheduling (early mornings) to ensure we don’t disrupt your business operations.
I just bought a new appliance. Can you take the box and Styrofoam?
Yes. New appliances come with a shocking amount of packaging that won’t fit in your blue Fairfax County recycling bin. We can haul away the old unit and the mountain of cardboard, Styrofoam, and wooden pallets from the new one in a single trip. (We recycle 100% of the cardboard we collect).
Do you offer same-day service?
We often can. We have trucks servicing the Braddock Road and Fairfax County Parkway corridors daily. If your freezer has died and is starting to smell, or your new delivery is arriving tomorrow, give us a call. We strive to accommodate urgent requests to get the old unit out of your way.

We’ll Donate and Recycle up to 100% of your unwanted items.
