During these unprecedented times, we take our role as an essential service provider seriously and we remain open to service our customers. We understand that everyone is very concerned with the potential spread of the Coronavirus. We’re following the guidelines put in place by the federal government, local governments and the CDC.
Below are some of the safety precautions we’ve implemented to protect our team and our clients:
A few years ago, we leveraged our partnership with Habitat ReStore of Northern Virginia to secure rental space at the Fairfax County I-66 Transfer Station, otherwise known as “The Dump.” We then purchased a 40 foot weather tight internationally shipping container and had it delivered to the Fairfax Dump. After purchase, tax, delivery and rental, this proved to be a fairly expensive business decision. However, it was a game changer for our brand.
With our new storage unit, we are able to salvage far more than we were ever able to in the past and more effectively carry out our brand promise. Before we had this arrangement, we would go to a client’s home or business, load the trucks and then proceed to drive from charity to charity and recycling facility to recycling facility, until we got rid of all the items that we knew shouldn’t be dumped. This would take hours and lots of fuel. Being green was costly!
Now, we go straight to the Fairfax Dump following nearly every appointment. It takes us only moments to unload and inventory those items that will eventually go to charity and recycling facilities. Even if there’s only one or two small items to donate, the “pain in the rear” factor no longer exists. Once a week, we designate a few hours, to sort, load and deliver our charity items to their appropriate destinations. Sometimes this requires our whole fleet. The icing on the cake is the inventoried donation receipt that our clients receive a week or two after our crew comes out to their home.
A special thanks goes to JK Moving Services for providing us a JK Valet. This is our second storage unit, which we also keep on site at the Fairfax Transfer Station. With the JK Valet, we are able to salvage computers, TV monitors, radios, batteries, cords and all other electronics that shouldn’t end up in the landfill. JK Moving services is also a recognized corporate partner by Habitat ReStore and we’re grateful for their gratis offering of a storage unit to aid us in our mission to protect the environment through responsible disposal.
